Heatwave: The Who, the Mods, and the Cultural Turn

In July 1966 a mimeographed pamphlet titled ‘Heatwave’ began to circulate around the various shops, venues, and meeting spaces that constituted London’s counterculture. The pamphlet’s title references a track performed by Martha and the Vandellas, released in 1963, which would be covered by The Who on their 1966 record, A Quick One.
