Ex-Specials Toaster/Vocalist Neville Staple Shares His ‘Ska Crazy’ Musical Memories

Former Specials toaster/vocalist Neville Staple recently returned with Ska Crazy, his first solo album since splitting with the Two Tone pioneers. While we were interviewing Staple about his latest effort, we also asked him to share some of his favorite musical memories with us.

What is the first album you bought with your own money, and where did you buy it from?

I have never bought an album as I have always been given music, although I vaguely remember wanting to buy Millie Small’s “My Boy Lollipop,” 7-inch single…but it ended up being given to me by my cousin Alvin, along with many others.
